School House is a Victorian style house re-built in 1987. The Holiday Let accommodation comprises of a two - bedroomed self-contained self-catering attached annexe built in 1992, with a choice of either a ramp or two steps, up to the main entrance. School House is located within walking distance of Kendal Railway Station, Kendal Bus Station and Kendal Town Centre.



School House is located on the East side of the Town Centre. We are ideally located for those travelling by car, train (to either Kendal or Oxenholme Station) and bus. We will be happy to provide you with travel information but further details can be obtained from the Tourist Information Centre (Tel: 01539 735891), which is a short walk from School House. There are a number of Taxi Company’s available within Kendal, one being Blue Star Taxi’s (01539 723670). Please note, we are located on Castle Street, which is a one-way street.

We are located approximately 75 yards from the salmon jump on the River Kent, within Kendal’s conservation area. The nearest shop is on the adjacent street (Wildman Street), a minutes a walk away from the accommodation.


Arrival & Car Parking

We have small car parking area available, in front of the Holiday Let accommodation. We would be very grateful if you could park your car in a way that enables two other cars to fit in the area also – it can be a bit of a squeeze! There is some additional free parking available on Castle Street and disc parking available on nearby streets, such as Ann Street and Gandy Street.

From Castle Street take a left into Sleddale Gardens (immediately after the Bed and Breakfast). School House’s parking is located on your left, in front of the accommodation and behind the main house.

Check in is after 14.00. Arrangements will have been made during your booking process with regards to keys and access.

If arriving in the evening, the outside light at Holiday Let entrance will illuminate when it detects motion and will switch itself off.

Within the entrance hall, there is a selection of local information, maps and books.

The Hallway is 5.5 foot wide and is lighted by timed pneumatic light switches. There is also emergency lighting, which is continually illuminated. The staircase to the first floor is 2.5 foot wide and comprises of 13 carpeted stairs. The upstairs landing is lighted by a timed pneumatic light switches.


Guest Accommodation

From the downstairs hall access can gained to the living, dining and kitchen area.

The two bedrooms are located on the first floor. Room 2 can be used as either a twin room or a Super-King room and has an en-suite shower room. Room 3 is a King-size room with an en-suite shower room.

School House is centrally heated throughout but temperatures can be adjusted in each room using the thermostatic valves on each radiator.


Additional Information

Instructions to follow in the event of a fire are located next to the bedroom exit. There are fire detectors and sounders in each room. There are fire extinguishers in the hall and first floor landing. The fire exit is clearly signed ad guests are asked to evacuate the building to the rear car park.

We do not permit smoking in the holiday let.
